PURPOSE:To work the titled device sufficiently as a light source for a copier even when the device is not lit partially by connecting two or more of light- emitting diode element sections in parallel, making the element sections to correspond to luminous spots and connecting each pair in parallel while using a pair of these element sections as one unit when a plurality of element sections are arranged in the same semiconductor chip and the array device is manufactured. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of LED element sections 12 are formed to one semi conductor chip 11, and these element sections 12 and 12' are connected in paral lel and made to correspond to luminous spots. Electrodes 13 are fitted to these pairs, several electrode 13 is wire-bonded 14, and these pairs are connected in parallel. The element sections 12 and 12' are shaped onto an N-type GaAsP layer 5 deposited onto an N-type GaAs substrate 3 as seen in a normal device at that time, these element sections are connected by the electrodes 13, and the upper sections of the element sections 12 and 12' are coated with a con denser lens 7. Accordingly, even when one of the element sections 12, 12' fails, the other has charge of twice currents, and internal luminous efficiency is also doubled, thus functioning as a light-emitting section. |
