A tape loading appts. for VTR or DAT, which contains a tape cassette(5) at front upper part and a rotary head drum (8) inclined relative to the base plane(1') comprises a curved by-pass way(14) connected to main guide way(13) on a loading plate(9) inclined relative to the base plane; a stopper(53) at the end of both guide ways; an overstroke-absorber(22)(30) on the upper and lower loading rings(15)(16); and a lead and trailer base(11) (12) which slide during loading to working position along the said guide ways. When a tape is loaded fully, the post(28) of the trailer base is set vertical to keep the tape normal to the base plane, and the other rotary posts are set normal to the inclined plane of loading plate and the head drum.
