PROCESS FOR PREPARING INDOLEACETIC ACID DERIVATIVES

The title compds. (I) [ A = halogen, C1-4 alkyl, alkoxy; B = halogen are prepd by the reaction of indoleacetic derivs. (II) with disubstituted toluic acid. 1-(p-chlorobenzoyl)-5-methoxy- 2methylindole-3-acetic acid potasssium salt and α,α' -dibromotoluic acid in dimethylformamide are mixed and then trienthyl amine is added to the mixt. This mixt. is reacted 10 hrs at 20 - 30≦̸C to give pthalidyl 1-(p-chlorobenzoyl)-5-methoxy-2-methyl indole acetic ester. The product is useful as an antiphlogistic.
