PURPOSE:To correct an edge drop, a middle waviness and a roll mark, etc., and to obtain a product of high quality by disposing at least one set of multiroll cluster mill having the rolls of specific conditions at the front of the final stand of a tandem mill installation. CONSTITUTION:In multiroll cluster mills 10, 11, the ends of mutually opposite sides of upper and lower work rolls 2 are tapered respectively, and are controllingly moved in their axial directions. Accordingly, both-side ends of a rolling stock 1 are swelled reversely, and a rolling stock free from edge drop is obtained. But in the rolling of correcting this edge drop, a roll mark due to the starting point of taper of the body-end of work roll 2, is often produced in the vicinities of both side-ends of stock 1, or middle waviness is produced to lower the quality of stock 1. Then, a poor shape due to these roll mark and middle waviness, etc. is perfectly corrected by using the mills 10, 11 as the edge-drop correcting machines and using a mill 12 having an ordinary shape-controlling function for the final finishing machine. |
