PURPOSE:To improve working efficiency and safety by disposing a shape memory alloy of which the shape changes with a change of temp. near to an iron tip. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical member 7 provided with a coil 6 made of the shape memory alloy is mounted by a screw 4 to an iron tip holding cylinder 3. The coil 6 is disposed near the iron tip 2 and is kept at the temp. corresponding to the temp. of the tip 2. The compressed coil shape is preliminarily memorized in the coil 6 in the heated high temp. state. The coil 6 is heated when the iron tip 2 is heated while the coil 6 is kept extended in the low temp. state. The coil 6 changes to the memorized compression shape when the coil 6 attains the memorized temp. The visual discrimination of the temp. at the iron tip 2 is made possible by the above-mentioned method. The working efficiency is thus improved and since a skin burn, etc. are prevented, the higher safety is assured.
