PURPOSE:To attain the free change of the picture position on a recording medium with no change of input picture data, by using a memory means which stores the shift amount of the print position decided by a picture data analysis means or the print position changed by a print position changing means. CONSTITUTION:When a picture is shifted and printed, a CPU21 writes the shift amount toward the scan direction B to an H offset register 28 and the shift amount toward the direction (y axis) which is opposite to the carrying direction A of the recording paper to a V offset register 29 respectively. Under such conditions, the CPU21 analyzes the input data and replaces the CAP. However the prescribed shift amounts of both registers 28 and 29 are added to the (x) and (y) coordinate values of a CAP register 27 in case the CAP is set at a print position 46, for example, before the picture is shifted since the optional shift amounts are set to both registers 28 an 29 respectively. Then a print position 48, for example, is set to the register 27 and the picture print position is shifted to a position designated by the CAP.
