PURPOSE:To stabilize the falling form of cooling water and to improve the cooling efficiency of a hot rolling stock by providing a flat-plate-shaped nozzle to the upper one-end of a water-tank side wall and arranging a collision board at the front of the nozzle in a form of converting the cooling water discharged from the nozzle into a laminar flow falling vertically downward. CONSTITUTION:The device is formed by providing a flat-plate-shaped nozzle 3 and a collision board 8 to a conventional device. When the water surface 5 of cooling water 4 supplied from a water-supplying hole 12 bored in a water- supplying pipe 11 exceeds the height of the side-wall plate 2 of a water tank 1, the cooling water 4 is discharged from the nozzle 3 and is formed into a laminar falling-flow after colliding against the board 8. An ordinarily-stable laminar falling-flow can be obtained by making the distance A between the nozzle 3 tip and the board 8 larger than the thickness D of cooling water 4 at the time of max. discharge, and making the length B of the lower part of board 8 satisfy the equation. As the cooling water 4 obtained in such manner is excellent in the cooling efficiency and the device is not required to have especially high accuracy, the manufacturing cost is inexpensive. |
