PURPOSE:To eliminate a protrudent part from the bottom of a fan unit installed above a cook, and to obtain a ventilator of superior design, by housing a fan unit, to the suction port of which a duct having an induction opening to suck oily smoke at the position close to a gas range is connected, in a hanger shelf installed above the gas range. CONSTITUTION:When cooking is taken place in a cooling pot 57 on a gas range 40, oily smoke and exhaust gas are sucked into a duct 38 from an induction opening 41, passing through a filter 43, and is discharged outdoors from a piping duct 35 via a ventilator fan 17. Fresh air sucked from outdoors by the revolution of an air feed fan 22 is blown off downwardly from a discharge opening 32, hitting against a visor 46, and bending its direction to flow as shown by arrow signs. At that time, the air flow wraps up part of oily smoke from the cooking pan 57 escaping from the induction opening 41, preventing it from rising, so that all oily smoke can be sucked into the induction opening 41. A unifrom and flat layout is possible for the ventilator fan in a kitchen because both units where fan mechanical sections are housed are flat on the level of the right and the left hanger shelves 56 for an outer look.
