METHOD FOR REMOVING COPPER DUST FROM SURFACE OF DRAWN WIRE AND SUBJECTING SAID WIRE TO ANTICORROSIVE TREATMENT

PURPOSE:To subject a copper wire to anticorrosive treatment as well as to remove easily copper dust from the surface of the wire by spraying an aqueous soln. of a corrosion inhibitor on the surface of the copper wire sent out of a drawing machine at a high speed and by blowing compressed air in the next chamber. CONSTITUTION:A copper wire W sent out of a drawing machine D at >=1,000m/min high speed is introduced into the 1st chamber 1, where an aqueous soln. of a corrosion inhibitor for copper such as an aqueous soln. of benzotriazole or monoethanolamine having 0.01-2% concn. is sprayed on the surface of the wire W from an air spray 6 under <=3kg/cm<2> pressure. The wire W is then introduced into the 2nd chamber 2, where compressed air is blown from an air wiper 16 under <=5kg/cm<2> pressure to remove copper dust and an excess of the inhibitor soln. from the surface of the wire W. The removed dust and soln. are recovered in a recovering tray 17. The copper dust on the copper wire can be perfectly removed, the wire is subjected to anticorrosive treatment, and the inhibitor soln. can be recovered and reused.
