PURPOSE:To improve the affinity of a water soluble dye for a binder in an image receiving layer, to spread well the dye and to provide necessary etching bleachability by coating the image receiving layer contg. a white pigment and physical developing nuclei with a layer contg. gelatin. CONSTITUTION:When an image receiving layer contg. a white pigment and physical developing nuclei is formed on a support to obtain an image receiving material, the image receiving layer is coated with a layer contg. gelatin (over layer). Lime treated gelatin, acid treated gelatin or the like is used in the over layer, it may be combined with a hydrophilic synthetic resin such as PVAL, and the preferred amount of gelatin used is >=about 2/3 of the total amount of binders in the over layer. When the resulting image receiving material is used, an anionic dye has a great affinity for the binder in the image receiving layer, spreads well, and also has etching bleachability. The image receiving material is effectively used especially in a color direct photomechanical process. |
