PURPOSE:To facilitate the correction of erroneously recognized KANJI (Chinese character) by recognizing a hand-written character by an input pen based on coordinate data corresponding to a position to which the input pen touches and correcting the recognized result corresponding to the coordinate data. CONSTITUTION:When the input pen 19 touches a position corresponding to the screen of a CRT display part 13, a transparent tablet 14 converts the hand- written character into an electrical signal corresponding to a touched position coordinates, while a tablet control part 15 converts it into coordinate data. According to the coordinate data outputted from the tablet control part 15, an on-line recognition control part 16 outputs the hand-written character by the input pen 19 and outputs a character code being the recognized result to a control part 17. It executes the control of the overall device, and corrects the character, which a recognizing part 11 recognizes erroneously or rejects, according to the character code outputted from the on-line recognition control part 16.
