PURPOSE:To prevent any voltage reduction of an organic electrolyte battery during electric discharge under a great load by using a mixture of cupric oxide and CuFeSX (wherein x is restricted to within a specified range) as the positive active material and using lithium as the negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:After cupric oxide and CuFeSX (wherein x is restricted according to formula 1.75<=x<=1.90) is mixed in a ratio of within the range of 80:20-60:20, the prepared mixture is compressed and molded to make a positive electrode 4. Next, the positive electrode 4 is installed in a case 5 and then the obtained body is combined with a negative electrode 2 made of lithium or a lithium alloy which is pressed and stuck to a sealing plate 1, a separator 3 and an organic electrolyte. Because of the above structure, any transient reduction of voltage which might occur during the initial stage of electric discharge is prevented. Besides, the diffusion of lithium toward the inner area is facilitated due to spaces in the CuFeSX molecule where sulfur atoms should originally be located. Therefore, it is possible to effectually prevent any voltage reduction during electric discharge under a great load. |
