PURPOSE:To miniaturize an equipment by carrying an original in a U-turn way in the equipment. CONSTITUTION:A supply guide member 8 depressed to the lower part of a roller 6 by a spring 7 under the read platen roller 6 is supported turnably by a shaft. Further, a discharge guide member 11 depressed to the upper part of the roller by a spring at the upper part of the roller 6 is fitted to a discharge stay 13 supported turnably by the shaft 12. Then the original 3 loaded from an original inserting slit 1 is carried to the member 8 via an original presence detection sensor 2 and a pickup roller 5 or the like, carried with a constant speed on the circumferential face of the roller 6 by the member 8 and the roller 6, the picture information is read by a small-sized sensor 16 just after the original passes through a paper guide 18, guided by the member 11, carried in a U-turn way on the circumferential face of the roller 16 and discharged from an original discharge outlet 15. Since the original is carried in a U-turn way in this way, not by straightforward carrying, the entire equipment is miniaturized.
