PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of missing of signals by taking out head reproduction output in a range slightly wider than area of recording. CONSTITUTION:The first window signal is formed basing on phase of rotation of heads 5A and 5B to take out head reproduction output in a range slightly wider than the area of recording to prevent missing of reproduced signals for recorded signals in the area 9 of recording even when elongation of a tape 1, disorder of running or disorder of rotation of heads 5A and 5B take place. Head reproduction output is gated basing on this, and the second window signal is formed in the gated part of output basing on synchronizing signals in data arrangement. Gated part of output is further gated basing on the first window signal.
