PURPOSE:To reproduce a colored image free from crosscolor/dot hindrance by detecting the direction in which waveform deforming of the composite color TV signal and by separating the luminance signal and the chrominance signal utilizing the sample dot positioned in that direction. CONSTITUTION:A sampling sequence 51 of the composite color TV signal delays the signal by six dot delaying circuits 5 and two line delay circuits 1, and the nine sampling points are simultaneously outputted. The value of each sampling point is inputted to a comparator circuit 8, and the differential absolute value is calculated. The circuit 8 outputs a discrimination signal 69 that shows which one is the samllest value. Receiving this signal 69 from the circuit 8, a selector 9 outputs sampling point signals 70 and 71 which are for the separated calculation, and supplies them to a separating filter 7. The filter 7, by utilizing the signals 70 and 71 and the attended sampling point 64, calculates and outputs a separated chriminance signal C72. A separated luminance signal Y72 is obtained being subtracted from the composite color TV signal by a subtractor 4.
