PRODUCTION OF BLANK MATERIAL FOR SIAMESE TYPE CYLINDER BLOCK

PURPOSE:To produce a blank material for a Siamese type cylinder block having no apertures at all on the outside wall by producing a casting by using collapsible cores as cores for water jackets then discharging the core forming material through the apertures of the water jackets. CONSTITUTION:Casting is executed by using the collapsible cores for the cylindrical water jackets having notches in the positions corresponding to reinforcing deck parts to form respectively Siamese cylinder barrels 1 on the inside of the cores 59, the outside wall 4 of the cylinder block on the outside of the cores 59 and the reinforcing deck parts 8 in the positions of the notches. The casting exposed with the end faces of the cores 59 in the apertures 6a of the water jackets 6 is thus obtd. The cores 59 of such casting are collapsed and the core forming material is discharged through the apertures 6a of the jackets 6 by which the blank material for the Siamese type cylinder block is produced.
