PURPOSE:To make the access accurate at the same time to secure the compatibility by providing an address code reproduction circuit for the first disc and the other address code reproduction circuit for the second disc, and detecting the kind of the disc mounted, and switching the circuit automatically. CONSTITUTION:The discs to be used are the first type disc, picture number code PN1, PN2 of which are inserted in 17 horizontal cycle (17H), 18H, and the second type disc, the same picture number codes PN1, PN2, PN3, PN4 of which are consecutively inserted in 17H, 18H, 19H, 20H. The address code reproducing device, while it can detect the address signal from the normal first type disc, can also detect the address signals of the second type disc the picture numbers of which are inserted in four horizontal cycles including two horizontal cycles. Moreover, as the detection of the address signal is automatically switched over, the compatibility of the device as a reproduction device is secured.
