PURPOSE:To prevent a transferred ink from moving together with an ink ribbon and enable high-density recording, by releasing the pressed condition of a recording medium and the ink ribbon when feeding the ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:After a thermal scan by a thermal head 1, feeding rollers 5 and pinch rollers 12 are driven to feed the recording medium 3 and the ink ribbon 4 by one pitch, in which case the ink ribbon 4 is fed by the pinch roller 12 while exerting a braking force on the ribbon 4 by driving brake rollers 16. As a result, a force in the direction of an arrow A is exerted on the head 1 due to the tension on the ribbon 4, so that the head 1 is moved in the direction of the arrow A against an energizing force of a solenoid 15 to be separated from a platen roller 2, and the ink ribbon 4 and the recording medium 3 are set into an off-contact state. When the ribbon 4 is fed under this condition, no friction occurs between the ribbon 4 and the medium 3, so that a transferred ink will not be moved together with the ribbon 4. |
