PURPOSE:To increase the adhesive strength between an oxide film and a metal and to improve sealing performance by limiting the size and number of non-metallic inclusions at the surface of the alloy for sealing. CONSTITUTION:In the alloy for sealing whose surface is covered with the oxide film prior to the sealing with glass, the sealing strength decreases if the number as well as the average particle size of the non-metallic inclusions at the alloy surface are greater. Therefore, the average diameter of the non-metallic inclusions and the number of the non-metallic inclusions with 5-20mu average diameter, at the surface of the alloy for sealing, are limited to <=20mu and <=50 pieces per 1cm<2>, respectively.
