PURPOSE:To secure operational condition of an inverter, by controlling the inverter with constant current when voltage of an electric railcar line exceeds a predetermined value to thereby maintain circulating current constant irrespective of an input voltage level of a converter. CONSTITUTION:A regenerative substation system includes a converter 3 for converting AC output power of an AC power supply 1 to direct current and an inverter 8 for regenerating regenerative power generated upon braking of an electric railcar 6 to the AC power supply 1. There are formed a first matching circuit 11 for matching inverter current Id with set current of a circulating current setting device 12 and a second matching circuit 15 for matching output from a current controlling amplifier 13 that receives a deviated output from the circuit 11 with voltage Ed of an electric railcar line and set voltage Vs of an AC (regenerative) voltage setting device 16. If Ed>Vs, the inverter 8 is controlled with constant current to thereby maintain the circulating current between the converter 3 and the inverter 8 irrespective of input voltage of the converter 3.
