A method and apparatus for analyzing sample liquids colorimetrically is characterized in that sample liquids in a conduit tube leading to the flow-cell of the colorimeter are separated by bubbles of gas. As shown in Fig. 6 the sample liquids are held in cups 23 mounted in a turntable 21, and are aspirated therefrom by a metal crook 75; the reagent is held in receptacle (20) and aspirated therefrom by a metal crook 77; the metal crooks 75, 77 are held in a bar 79 of a support post 81 which moves in a horizontal plane so that in one position the crooks aspirate liquid, and in the other position aspirate air Fig. 3 (not shown); the movement of the turn-table 12 and the post 81 are synchronized so that in each position of the turn-table there is aspirated, in turn, air, a small amount of liquid for washing, air and a larger amount of liquid for analysis, the reagent and sample liquids are passed along pipes 76, 78 of equal path lengths by a pump 130, mixed at a junction block 148, and passed through a mixing coil 150 into flow-cell 154 of the colorimeter analysis apparatus; a switch 175 may be synchronized with the turn-table 12 so that the analysis results are recorded on a graph 167 only when the larger amount of liquids are in the flow-cell 154. |
