PURPOSE:To attain substantially complete heat shielding by providing an opening/ closing means which is so constituted to open and close an insertion entrance side for transfer paper, opening the entrance when the front end of the transfer paper reaches the insertion entrance side, and inserting the transfer paper into a fixing device. CONSTITUTION:The detecting means 17 which consists of a photodetecting element 17a and a light emitting element 17b so as to detect the front end of the transfer paper reaching the entrance side of the fixing device 10 is arranged at the exit terminal of a conveyance path formation part 8, and the operation period of a solenoid 16 is controlled by the detecting means 17. When the rear end of the transfer paper reaches the exit terminal of the fixing device 10, that is detected by the 2nd detecting means 15 to return the solenoid 16 to its original position and a lower frame body side plate 32 is rotated in the opposite direction of an arrow to allow the free end of the side plate 32 to abut on the free end of an upper frame body side plate 21 in contact. Consequently, the entrance side of the fixing device 10 is closed thermally and completely to insulate the heat of a heat roller 11a and also prevent heat from being conducted to a drum 1 and other peripheral devices. Consequently, the entrance side of the fixing device is shielded from heat substantially completely to improve the heat insulation and reduce the size of the device on the whole. |
