发明名称 MANUFACTURE OF GLASS CERAMIC
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain glass ceramic having improved strength and heat conductivity by mixing silicon carbide particles with an oxide film formed on the surface with glass powder, forming the mixture, and calcining the formed material to disperse silicon carbide particles uniformly in the glass. CONSTITUTION:Silicon carbide particles having <=10mum mean particle diameter are heated at >=1,200 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere to form an oxide film on the surface. The particles and glass powder are mixed, and the mixture is compacted to manufacture a compact. The compact is calcined at a temp. higher than the m.p. of the glass powder, and then compressed by hydrostatic compression at a temp. lower than the ordinary-pressure calcination temp. Consequently, glass ceramic wherein silicon carbide particles are uniformly dispersed in a glass matrix is obtained. Besides, borosilicate glass, lithium glass, or aminosilicate glass each having <=1,200 deg.C softening point are appropriately used as the glass powder.
