PURPOSE:To obtain a glass gob excellent in weight precision without a shear mark, a graining, a scratch and a sink mark, etc., by dropping the fused glass from a tip of a nozzle and allowing it to fall until the surface temp. of glass droplets reaches the temp. lower than the softening temp. CONSTITUTION:After introducing glass into a crucible 1, heating it at the required temp. with a heater 5a while stirring it by a stirrer 4 ad forming the fused glass 2, the fused glass droplets 6 are allowed to fall from a tip of a nozzle 3 which is held at the required temp. with the heaters 5b and 5c. After these are allowed to fall until the surface temp. of the glass droplets 6 reaches the temp. lower than the softening temp. by moving a supporting stand 12 of a receiver 7 up and down, the aimed gobs are obtained by receiving them with the receiver 7. Moreover the falling distance (l) can be shortened by cooling forcedly the glass droplets 6 with cold air. As the receiver 7, that made of adequately abraded copper and carbon, etc., is preferably used.
