PURPOSE:To analyze quantitatively zinc in zinc naphthenate by adding acetone to a weighed sample to dissolve it, then adding water to form the precipitate of zinc hydroxide, and titrating said hydroxide with the standard solution of hydrochloric acid by means of a potentiometic titrator. CONSTITUTION:The sample is weighed in a dried container such as a beaker, etc. A prescribed amount of acetone is then added to dissolve the sample by stirring. In this case, the sample concentration is regulated within the prescribed range. The prescribed amount of water is added to this solution and stirred to form the precipitate of zinc hydroxide, which is transferred to the potentiometric titrator. Thus, zinc present in zinc naphthenate is quantitatively analyzed with good accuracy by detecting the electric potential variation correctly. |
