A support for a swinging machine, which consists of an elongated profiled element, especially a hollow profile, which has flanges welded onto its ends, is intended to be improved such that fractures on the welding seams between the flange and the profiled element are prevented. This is achieved in that the flanges (3) have an attachment (4), which corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of the profiled element (2), on the side facing said profiled element (2), in that the wall thickness of the attachment (4) on the flange side is greater than the wall thickness of the flange (3) and/or of the profiled element (2), and in that said wall thickness is reduced towards the profiled element (2) to approximately the wall thickness of the said profiled element (2), the transitions between the flange (3) and attachment (4) being constructed continuously, and in that the flanges (3) are welded to the profiled element (2) on the attachment (4). As a result of the use of flanges having attachments, the welded seam between the flange and profiled element can be placed directly on the flange, out of the region which is subject to dangerous stress, and can thus be relieved of stress.
