It is possible to generate steam substantially without nitric oxide from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas if the combustion of said products is carried out in a plurality of stages. The fuel (1) which sometimes contains ashes is mixed with air (4) and water vapour (5) heated at high temperature and converted into fuel gas in a melting chamber (2) with a full ceramic cladding; the fuel gas obtained is cooled for preheating the circuit and generating the steam (53), is deprived of solid material (16) and of hydrogen sulfide (18) and is supplied to a catalytic or non catalytic flameless combustion stage (22). The temperature in the combustion stage reaches a value which is substantially lower than 1300<o>C due to the lower calorific value of the gas introduced into the combustion ceramic (26), so that the combustion is carried out substantially without nitric oxide. |
