PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain simultaneously magnetic recording media different in magnetic characteristic by using an adsorption preventing plate having the cutoff positions of a steam current at >=2 different areas in the width direction on the end face of a steam current cutoff part, flowing the steam current of a ferromagnetic material at >=2 different incident angles in the width direction and forming a ferromagnetic metallic thin film layer on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:An adsorption preventing plate 11 is cut at its right half part on the end face of a steam current cutoff part at the center in the width direction for formation of a stage part 12. The cutoff positions of the steam current are different from each other between the right and left halves. Therefore the steam current heated and vapored by a ferromagnetic material evaporation source 9 is cut partly and controlled by the plate 11 and flowed to a substrate 4 which moves along the circumferential surface of a cylindrical can 3. Thus the different incident angles are obtained between the right and left halves of the plate 11 on the substrate 4. Then the ferromagnetic metallic thin film layers are formed with different levels of coercive force between the right and left halves. This thin film layer is cut with the prescribed width to obtain at a time two types of magnetic recording media different in level of coercive force.
