<p>Hermaphroditic electrical connector (2) comprises a dielectric housing (20) having terminals (10) therein with resilient contact tongues (14) and shunt means (56, 60) fixed to a dielectric carrier (42) which moves relative to housing (20) in response to mating with a like connector (2) as tongues (14) engage respective like tongues (14). The shunt means (56, 60) engage portions (16) of the terminals (10) remote from the contact tongues (14) to electrically connect alternate terminals (14) when the connector (2) is in an unmated condition, the shunt means (56, 60) being in unmated relation with the terminals (14) when the connector (2) is mated.</p> |
