<p>A two-step encoding method in which an error occurring while data are recorded on a recording medium and while the recorded data are reproduced is corrected by using an error-correcting code, such as RS code. The two-step encoding of C2, C1 is done at intervals of repetition of a combination of (k2/n2) and (k2/n2)+1 with respect to the digital data having a two-dimensional arrangement of n2 in a first direction and k2 in a second direction, to improve the scattering effect and thereby increase the burst error correcting capacity.</p> |
