PURPOSE:To recognize additionally even a power supply application peripheral device after start by holding device information while being undefined as to a peripheral device whose power is not applied yet at system start and confirming its device after power is applied after start. CONSTITUTION:When power is applied to a peripheral device 5b whose power is not applied at system start, power application is informed to a peripheral device information control section 43 in a peripheral controller 4 from the device 5b. The control section 43 receives device information from the device 5b to revise the content of a peripheral device information storage section 42. After the revision, interruption is given to a central processing unit (CPU)1 via a channel controller connecting section 41 and a channel controller 3. The CPU1 commands the transfer of device information of the device 5b whose power is applied newly to the device 4. The control section 43 reads the revised content of the storage section 42 to transfer it to a main storage device 2. The transferred device information is written in a peripheral device information table in the device 2 to revise the content of the table and the undefined device information is confirmed.
