PURPOSE:To realize the monitoring by a monitor receiver which has no RGB input terminal and the special reproduction with a VTR, etc., by adding a synchronization signal to a luminance signal at the time of recording, and erasing the added synchronization signal at reproduction. CONSTITUTION:Normally a camera 100 outputs a three color primary signal and a composite video signal, and the composite synchronization signal separated from the composite video signal is added to the luminance signal Y issued from an encoder 101 and supplied to a luminance signal memory circuit 102. Therefore, the luminance signal recorded on a recording medium 108 is added with the composite synchronization signal. On the other hand, by providing a synchronization elimination circuit 115 between a luminance signal reproduction circuit 110 and a decoder 112, the luminance signal is supplied to the decoder 112 after being eliminated the composite synchronization signal. The decoder 112 makes up a reproduction 3 color primary signal from this luminance signal and reproduction color difference signal, and supplied to an RGB monitor 113.
