Process for the production of a tetraploid and bisabolol-rich camomile whose flowers, dried at 40 DEG C, have at least 100 mg% chamazulene and at least 200 mg% (-)- alpha -bisabolol, where the content of the other bisaboloids is below 50 mg%, by subjecting an initially tetraploidised diploid camomile or a tetraploid camomile in which (-)- alpha -bisabolol represents the main component of the essential oil to various selection and propagation steps.
