A windshield or sunshade which is opened out in the manner of a fan in the use position contains a plurality of struts which are secured so as to be capable of pivoting with respect to one another in the manner of a fan and the pivot axes of which run in parallel with one another, which struts are mounted in a wall part so as to be capable of pivoting. On the struts there is fastened a web of cloth or sheeting which is stretched out by the struts in the fanned-out position. In their rest position, the struts all run in parallel with one another. In order to avoid relative longitudinal movements of the struts with respect to one another when the fan is retracted and extended and, moreover, to obtain a relatively small wall holder, all the struts are mounted in the wall holder so as to be capable of pivoting about a common axis. In addition, for simpler locking, a locking device which may be actuated, has a positively locking action, possesses an actuating member and is provided on the wall holder is assigned at least to one of the two struts which, with the windshield or sunshade fanned out into the use position, are located at the edge of said windshield or sunshade.
