Compounds represented by formula (I), (wherein R<1> represents amino or an organic residue bound via a nitrogen atom, R<2> represents carboxy or a group derived therefrom and X represents hydrogen, methoxy or formylamino, provided that, R<2> does not represent p-nitrobenzyloxycarbonyl nor benzhydryloxycarbonyl when R<1> is acetylamino or amino and X is hydrogen) and salts thereof have an excellent antibacterial effect, and are utilized as antibacterial agents.
