PURPOSE:To secure prescribed residual pressure at all times by providing damper means for providing on the plunger side, prescribed resistance to a flow of fuel in a direction of opposite pressure feed to permit damper effect to be produced in a diesel engine. CONSTITUTION:A discharge valve 7 located in a discharge path to a fuel injection nozzle is opened in a direction of fuel pressure feed resisting energyzing force of a first energyzation member 12. Likewise, a check valve 9 is opened in a direction of opposite feed direction of fuel resisting a second energyzation member 13. A damping valve 14 is provided on the plunger side from the check valve 9, which is non-resistive to a fuel flow in the direction of the pressure feed thereof but resistive to a fuel flow in the direction of the opposite pressure feed. Accordingly, the check valve 9 is prevented from overshooting, whereby prescribed residual fuel pressure between a discharge port of the discharge valve 7 and an oil reservoir chamber of the injection nozzle can be secured at all times without being in fluenced by differences of operation conditions. Furthermore, the check valve 9 can also be prevented from overshooting.
