PURPOSE:To minimize the number of optical fibers in use and to simplify a structure and to reduce the cost by arranging adjacently respective groups of one optical fibers for photodetection and six optical fibers for photodetection surrounding the photodetection optical fibers regularly. CONSTITUTION:One optical fiber 6 for photodetection is surrounded regularly with six optical fibers T for projection to irradiate an original and its reflected light is photodetected by optical fibers R, G, and B for photodetection. The optical fiber T2 is shared between the optical fiber J1 in a photodetection area JJ1 corresponding to the projection area TT1 consisting of optical fibers T1-T6 and an optical fiber J2 in a contiguous photodetection area. Therefore, only one optical fiber for projection is enough between two contiguous optical fibers for projection and photodetection and the number of optical fibers in use is reduced.
