PURPOSE:To attain to shorten a measuring time, by performing the measurement of the phases of a plurality of large cycle tone signals by a direct phase detection system using two sets of correlation devices. CONSTITUTION:The output of a range finding tone signal generation part 1 is sent to a target station through a transmission terminal 6 and the signal returned from the target station is supplied to a local AMB (ambiguity) tone generation part 14 through a receiving terminal 11, a receiver 12 and a phase cycle loop 13. Next, a sequence control circuit 3 outputs an AMB tone with max. frequency to an adder circuit 4 from the AMB tone generation part 2 when a range finding tone signal is caught by a PLL. A direct phase difference detection part 15 measures the phase difference of the received AMB tone signal inputted from a receiver 12 and the local AMB tone signal inputted from the circuit 14 according to a direct phase detection system and sends out a phase difference data to the circuit 3. The circuit 3 controls the phase of the local AMB tone signal on the basis of the phase difference data. By measuring the output of the generation part 2 by a time counter 16, the reciprocal radio wave propagation time data R up to the target station is obtained with high accuracy.
