A bronzing apparatus having the shape of a couch comprises a frame wherein are arranged in parallel a plurality of UV-A low pressure tubes as radiation generator, which are spaced apart. Said tubes are provided in a concave reflector and are covered by a plate on which a person may lie down, said plate being transparent to the UV-A rays and resting on the sidewalls of the frame. In order to improve the hereabove described bronzing apparatus and in order to obtain immediately above the plate on which a person is laying down, a uniform and planar ray distribution, there is proposed to provide spacing elements between the UV-A low pressure tubes (2, 22) throughout the length and/or the width of the apparatus (1, 21). The plate (5, 25) on which a person is laying down rests on a front face of said spacing elements, and their other front face is fixed in or on the bottom (10, 30) of the reflector (3, 23). The spacing elements are formed by a plurality of spacing bolts distributed throughout the length and throughout the width of the apparatus (1). The plate (5) rests on one of their extremities (8) and the other extremity (9) is fixed to the bottom (10) of the reflector (3). However it is also possible that the spacing elements are comprised of spacing profiles (27) extending completely or partly along the length of the apparatus (21); the plate (25) rests on one of their front faces and their other front face is fixed to the bottom of the reflector (23). |
