In the case of a method for producing a junction on a laid pipeline, consisting of an inner pipe, preferably made of steel, of a jacket pipe made of plastic and of a heat-insulation layer which is located between the inner pipe and jacket pipe and consists of foamed plastic, preferably polyurethane, the jacket pipe and the insulation layer are removed over a specific length at the point which is provided for the junction, an opening is incorporated into the inner pipe for a junction pipe, and the junction pipe is welded into the opening. The region between the ends of the jacket pipe on both sides of the junction pipe is sealed with a plastic strip by laying around said strip or by means of two half shells, an opening which is located in the plastic strip or in one of the half shells being placed with a neck over the junction tube. Both the seams which run in the longitudinal direction of the pipeline and the two seams which run in the circumferential direction are welded by means of heating strips, by resistance-wire heating and under the influence of pressure, between the plastic strip or the half shells and the jacket pipe ends. Finally, the annular space between the inner pipe which carries the medium and the plastic strip or the half shells is filled with foam.
