<p>The display incorporates a current supply source, and a drive (25) for controling the electrical current from the source to the individual light components, at the same time enabling light combinations to be formed via switches. Each light component or diode (4-10) receives a separate feed of current from the source by a number of lead connections, and the switches (53-59) are electronically controllable, being coupled in shunt connection. The shunt connections are parallel with each of the light components, and the switches are selectively opened or closed by separate control signals. When the shunt connection is open, the drive current passed to the corresp. illuminated. component so that it is maintained light When the connection is closed, the light component is extinguished. The drive has several inputs receiving control signals for the switches (53-59,37), and connected to the outputs of a digital computer (24). The computer output signals are in the form of low or high voltage levels to change over the switches from closed to open positions, thus extinguishing or igniting the light diodes.
