PURPOSE:To collect a combustible material in a high-temp. circulation gas after cooling coke, to recover heat by burning it in a two-stage fluid layer furnace, to mix a part of a hot gas with the high-temp. circulation gas and to subject a part of a cold gas from a heat exchanger to effectuation treatment such as temp. control for the fluid layer. CONSTITUTION:A dry coke equenching installation is so constituted that high- temp. coke is cooled in a circulation gas and a combustible material is removed from the circulation gas by a dust collector 2, 12 after cooling coke, and sensible heat is recovered by a heat exchanger 16, 22. The combustible material collected by the dust collector is burned in a fluid layer furnace 6 constituted of a fluid layer combustion zone and a combustion zone thereabove provided with a sub heat exchanger 22 in the free board. A part of the combustion heat is recovered by the sub-heat exchanger 22 and a hot gas evolved from the furnace 6 is mixed with the high-temp. circulation gas prior to entering the heat exchanger 16. A part of a cold circulation gas coming out of the heat exchanger 16 is blown into the furnace 6 to control the temp. of the fluid layer.
