PURPOSE:To provide a flame-retardant thermoplastic resin composition which is excellent in a flame retardance and a heat resistance, by incorporating a specific compound containing a large amount of a halogen in a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:A desired flame-retardant thermoplastic resin composition is obtained by incorporating in a thermoplastic resin (for example, a polycarbonate resin, a styrene resin or a polyester resin) a compound of the formula I(wherein -O-R-O- is a bisphenol residue substituted with a halogen atom; X halogen atoms which are the same as or different from each other; l, m and n each 1-5)(e.g. a compound of the formula II). The flame retarder containing the above mentioned halogen compound is incorporated in the thermoplastic resin in an amount of 1-50pts.wt., preferably 5-30pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the thermo plastic resin.
