[Class 39 (ii).] In an electric-battery lamp or lighting set for cycles &c. of the type wherein the batteries are contained in a current-carrying metal case which is included in the lamp circuit, and provision for dimming is made by switching a resistance into the circuit, the resistance element and its switch and battery connections are mounted upon an insulator interposed between the battery and a current-carrying casing member that has electrical connection with the moving switch contact. The insulator e comprises a panel of insulating material provided with two fixed contact studs c, c<1> respectively secured to metal scrips d<2>, d<1> mounted on the underside of the panel and supporting the resistance element consisting of a piece of insulating material with a resistance winding d. In the example the member e is mounted in the detachable metal lid f<1> of the lamp casing, between the batteries and a rotatable switch-operating knob a. The knob a is secured by a spindle a<1> to a cupped metal contact member b which is pressed downwardly by a helical spring b<1> bearing upon a plate b<2> within the cup, these members being contained within a fixed metal housing a<2>. The rotary switch-contact member b is provided with an arcuate slot b<4> engaging a stop i on the insulating plate e to limit the amount of rotation of the switch, and a depression b3 in the member b is so positioned that it can engage one or other of the contacts c, c<1> to provide either the full or dimmed light. The switch is put into the "off" position by rotating it so that both contacts c, c<1> come within the gap b<4>. A lug d<3> on the bracket d<1> is arranged to bear against one of the resilient battery contacts g. The lamp bulb may either be mounted upon the casing or connected to the switch &c. by a flexible lead or the like.
