PURPOSE:To neutralize and separate the harmful gas adsorbed on the surface of a photosensitive body and to prevent the deterioration of the photosensitive body by mixing a gaseous ammonia generating agent into a powder developer and conductive the gaseous ammonia generated in the stage of melting and fixing a powder image by a heating means to the surface of the photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:The gaseous ammonia generating agent which generates the gaseous ammonia when heated is mixed with the developer to be contained in a developing device 4. The gaseous ammonia generating agent is deposited together with the developer onto a photosensitive drum 1 in the stage of the development and is transferred onto copying paper in the stage of transfer and sepn when copying operation is started. Said generating agent is then conveyed to a fixing device 24. The developer is melted and fixed onto the copying paper by heating in the device 24; on the other hand, the gaseous ammonia generating agent is thermally decomposed to the gaseous ammonia which is conducted by a blast duct 28 and a fan 28 toward the surface of the drum 1 to neutralize and separate the harmful gas sticking to the drum 1. The deterioration of the electrophotographic characteristic of the photosensitive body by the harmful gas is thus efficiently prevented. |
