<p>A balloon catheter (10) having an expandable and collapsible elastic balloon (12) is shown, wherein the balloon (12) is reinforced by knitted fabric (23) such that the balloon (12) can not expand beyond a predetermined diameter regardless of the internal pressure applied to the balloon (12). The knitted construction (23) permits the balloon (12) to expand in diameter without shortening in length, and permits the balloon (12) to collapse smoothly without folds and wrinkles.</p> |
