<p>1,101,577. Injection moulding apparatus. P. LOSSERAND. 31 May, 1966 [15 Dec., 1965], No. 24293/66. Heading B5A. Apparatus for injection moulding multicoloured plastics articles comprises a plurality of melting pots 3-6 each connected by passages 7-10 to injection cylinders 32-35 respectively containing pistons 28-31 for injecting the material into a mould (not shown). Each of the passages 7-10 contains a valve 11-14 which stops the flow of coloured materials out of the melting pots 3-6 during the injection stroke of the pistons but re-establishes this flow during the return movement of the pistons. The pistons are biased downwardly by springs 28a-31a and moved upwardly by an hydraulic or pneumatic jack (not shown) acting through a cross-bar 50. The stroke of the pistons is adjustable by means of screws 57-60. The outlets of the injection cylinders are connected to the mould through an apertured plate which may be as seen at (15) in Fig. 3 (not shown) for producing differently coloured sectors or as seen at (15a) in Fig. 4 (not shown) for producing articles coloured differently along their length.</p> |
