PURPOSE:To obtain a plyamide-imide polymer having a variety of required properties attained by none of conventional heat-resistant polymers and a proper balance among them, by reacting a specified isocyanate with a cyclic dicarboxylic acid anhydride. CONSTITUTION:The desired polyamide-imide polymer is obtained by reacting a long-chain polyisocyanate of the formula (wherein R is a 19 C or higher aliphatic hydrocarbon group constituting the skeleton of a long-chain polyiso cyanate), which may be masked, with an organic isocyanate, which may be masked, other than the above isocyanate and a cyclic dicarboxylic acid anhydride.An example of said long-chain polyisocyanate includes an isocyanate derived from a dimer acid. An example of said organic isocyanate other than said isocyanate include diisocyanate.
