PURPOSE:To provide a marking agent for leaving a mark made by hitting which can be easily applied to and removed from the hitting face of a hitting rod and, in addition, protect the material and paint of the hitting face. CONSTITUTION:A marking agent for leaving a mark made by hitting is prepared by mixing (A) 1-40wt.% of at least one colored pigment or pigment colored by dissolving a pigment (calcium carbonate) and a dye in a solvent, (B) 55-98.9wt.% of an orgainic solvent which has no adverse effect on the material and paint of the hitting face (for example, isopropyl alcoblo) and (C) 0.1-5wt.% of a wax which is soluble in component (b) (for example, carnauba wax ) and optionally 0.1-5wt.% of a surfactant. The above-obtained marking agent is spray- or brush-applied to the hitting face of a hitting rod and then dried. The hitting rod to which the marking agent is applied is used for practice in golf, baseball, tennis, etc. After use, the marking agent is removed from the hitting face by wiping off with a cloth or paper or washing with water.
