PURPOSE:To use homocarnosine or its salt as an immunomodulator having high safety useful as a remedy for serum disease, lupus erythetmatosus, rheumatism, etc. CONSTITUTION:Homocarnosine shown by the formula or its salt is used as an imunomodulator. Homocarnosine is dipeptide extracted from bovine brain, namely, L-histidyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid, occurring in brain. It is found newly to have an immunomodulating action as physiologically active action of homocarnosine. The fittest amount of homocarnosine is 10mg/kg/day (hypoder mic administration). Nonspecifically usable for serum disease, lupus erythematosus, mixed cryoglobulinemia, diseases related to immune disorder such as HBV (type B hepatitis virus), etc.
